Town's home improvement holiday ends

Permits increase by 30 percent

during program's 3-month run

Apex’s longest holiday is over. The Town’s “Home Improvement Holiday”, during which permit fees for most residential repair and renovation projects were waived, ended June 29 after a 3-month run.

Town Manager Bruce Radford said he was pleased with the program’s results.

“From April to June, we issued 416 permits,” said Radford.

“That’s roughly 30 percent more than the same period last year.”

“Just as important, the Town built on our relationship with our residents, and we helped them build more value into their homes,” Radford concluded.

Several local businesses joined the effort, providing the Apex Chamber of Commerce with “goody bags” filled with tools, gift cards and other discounts on products and services to hand out to participants. One local bank even lowered their home improvement loan rate.

“We had people come to the Chamber who had no idea we were here and that’s a huge benefit for us,” said Chamber President Brenda Steen.
