Gossage appointed to library commission

Apex Town Commissioner Bryan Gossage was appointed to the Wake County Library Commission at a recent Wake County Commissioner’s meeting.

The Wake County Library Commission is an advisory board consisting of 14 members. Each Commission member is appointed to represent a county commissioner's district, or to represent the county at-large. Third District Commissioner Tony Gurley supported Gossage’s appointment.

The role of the Commission is to advise the County Commissioners on matters of policy and program affecting the public library system.

In 2003, Wake County voters approved $35 million in general obligation bonds for the construction and renovation of public library facilities. The Library Commission provides direction for the allocation of those funds throughout Wake County.

The position is voluntary and Gossage will remain on the Town of Apex Board of Commissioners. Prior to Gossage, Apex resident Ruth Holleman held the seat for the 3rd District for 12 years.
