New way to ride headed to S. Wake

A form of mass transit is coming to southern Wake County.

Beginning next month, Wake Human Services will begin running a limited bus service in Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, Willow Springs and parts of Apex.

The buses will run two days a week, taking its passengers from their homes to medical appointments, to grocery stores and to perform necessary errands.

Called TRACS (Transportation and Rural Access), the service will cost either $2 or $4 for a round trip, depending on distance. Reservations of at least 24 hours will be requested. Reservations of less than 24 hours will cost passengers more.

Human Services will hold a community forum to gather input 2 p.m. Jan. 20 at Town Hall in Holly Springs. The service is funded primarily through a state grant.
